Eligibility for Student Support Services
Student Support offers the following free services for both undergraduate and postgraduate students:
- individual counselling
- specialist support for students with mental health issues
- support for disabled students
- support for students who have experienced harassment or violence
We also offer wellbeing support for taught and research postgraduate students.
Who can't access our services
Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer access to any services if you’re:
- waiting to graduate after receiving official confirmation of your final results
- no longer registered as a student, or your registration has lapsed and not been extended
- between two separate courses that require separate applications
- formally suspended following a disciplinary outcome
If these exclusions apply to you, there's still a range of support available across the collegiate University and externally, including support for specific groups.
Learn more or get in touch and we can help signpost you to the right support.
Who can access all our services
This also applies if you are:
- waiting for your final results to be confirmed by Student Registry, the Postgraduate Committee or Degree Committee
- a visiting student with College membership
- involved in a formal process with the Office for Student Conduct, Complaints and Appeals (OSCCA) or the Examination, Access and Mitigation Committee (EAMC)
Who can access individual services
If you are not in one of the groups above, your access to each specific service depends on:
whether your course requires College membership
your current location (UK or abroad)
whether you're on intermission (medical or non-medical)
If you're a member of staff who holds student status, you may be eligible for some, but not all, Student Support services. Please contact the relevant service for more information.
These measures are in place to help us safely assess and manage risk, deliver the appropriate support and ensure our practitioners delivering each service operate within legal and professional boundaries.
Check the eligibility table (PDF) for an overview of the eligibility criteria for each service, or use the sections to learn more.

If your circumstances change
Sometimes, your circumstances might change—like finishing a course, changing location or a change to your study status—and this can affect your eligibility for certain support services. If that happens, your practitioner is here to help guide you through the transition.
To help ease the shift from accessing a service to a period without it, they can work with you in the sessions leading up to the break to help you prepare and think about other ways you can access support.
If you’d like, they can also use your first session back to reflect on how things have been during your time away.
