Communicable diseases
Before arriving at Cambridge, check your healthcare records to make sure you’ve had these vaccines:
- Meningitis (MenACWYconjugate vaccine)
- Mumps, Measles, and Rubella (MMR)
If you don’t know whether you’ve received these vaccines, you can check with your GP practice. Find out how to register with a surgery in Cambridge.
If you are in certain health risk groups, you might also need:
- Influenza (Flu): If you suffer from chronic lung, heart, kidney or liver disease or have diabetes or are otherwise immunosuppressed, please discuss having the NHS flu vaccine with your GP.
- COVID-19: Vaccinations are no longer offered to everyone. If your medical records indicate that you're at higher risk of serious illness, the NHS will contact you. If you are at higher risk from COVID-19, please discuss let your College nurse know.
- Shingles: If you are aged 65 and over, or over 50 with a weakened immune system, you may be eligible for the Shingles vaccine. Your GP surgery will contact you.
- Pneumococcal vaccine: If you are aged 65 and over, or at higher risk of becoming seriously ill, you may be able to obtain the pneumococcal vaccine Your GP surgery will contact you.
