The University’s Sub-Committee for Communicable Disease has produced this guidance for newly arriving students about vaccine preventable diseases.
The University advises students to have the following vaccines before arriving at Cambridge:
- Meningitis (MenACWY): all students are strongly advised to ensure they have received the MenACWY conjugate vaccine.
- Mumps, Measles, and Rubella (MMR): all students are strongly advised to ensure they have received two doses of the MMR vaccination.
- COVID-19: all students are strongly advised to ensure they have received two doses and a booster dose.
- Influenza (Flu): If you suffer from chronic lung, heart, kidney or liver disease or have diabetes or are otherwise immunosuppressed, please discuss having the NHS flu vaccine with your doctor.
If it is difficult to obtain these vaccines before you arrive, for example because you are coming from a country where they are not easily available , MenACWY, MMR and COVID-19 vaccinations are available without charge from the NHS once you have registered with a GP.
